Embarking on a transformative journey, the Association of Environmental Law Lecturers in Middle East and North Africa Universities (ASSELLMU) orchestrated its 5th Environmental Law Conference at Sohar University, Oman.

 The event, themed"Environmental Law and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,"convened experts, educators, and practitioners, developing knowledge exchange and actionable insights aimed at accelerating progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the MENA (Mdidle East and North Africa) region.

 

Elevating Environmental Education for Sustainable Development:

 

At the heart of the conference lay a pivotal discourse on the necessity of enhancing environmental law education to expedite the achievement of global SDGs.

 Insights from international environmental law experts and members of the World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) underscored the significance of integrating environmental law into higher education curricula.

This strategic move is poised to catalyze the MENA region's journey towards environmental rule of law and SDG alignment, unlocking pathways to a sustainable economy.

 Keynote lectures by luminaries, including the Director of the Law Division, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the United Nations Independent Expert on foreign debt, highlighted the conference's commitment to insightful perspectives shaping the discourse on environmental sustainability.
